 Rezime:
 Cost estimation is one of the basic foundations of cost management science and requires appropriate control and monitoring. The methodology of this research is a systematic review of the literature on the current implementation of state-of-the-art techniques such as artificial intelligence for solving complex problems in the organization of construction during the construction of highways. This paper aims to evaluate the accuracy of the cost estimation methods applied in the analyzed studies in order to gain insight into how well the methods based on empirical and historical data of realized construction projects work. Besides that, an effort was made to identify, synthesize and evaluate the impact of factors affecting unit prices and total costs of highway construction. Construction cost estimates can be conducted at different points in time during the project. Depending on the phase of project development, appropriate parameters are taken on the basis which the models are formed. It is conclud that the evaluation of models modeled by artificial intelligence has good capabilities and that it can be applied as a suitable mathematical tool for determining the estimating of the costs and performing works in all phases of construction. Through the comparative analysis of models for estimating the cost of highway construction, this paper contributes to the overall research, as well as by identifying and categorizing comprehensive cost factors in order to improve the estimation of highway construction costs.
