	Summary:
	The main problem in disposal of solid municipal waste is the pollution of surface and ground waters, soil and air. In Bosnia and Herzegovina there are a very large number of unregulated of municipal waste landfill that do not meet the basic criteria and guidelines for the sanitary disposal of waste. This paper analyzes the emergence, collection and treatment of leachate at the example of two municipal waste landfills in Tuzla Canton in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to prevent pollution of surface and ground waters and soil. For the analyzed two examples of collection and disposal of filtrate are presented two possibilities that satisfy valid legal regulations in this field.
