 Summary:
The paper points to the specific structure of Recycled Aggregate Concrete in hardened state, primarily with regard to the form of interfacial transition zone - the "old" interfacial transition zone within the grain of Recycled Concrete Aggregate and the "new" interfacial transition zone, which is in between the grains of Recycled Concrete Aggregate and new cement mortar. Also, when the concrete is made of a mix of natural and recycled aggregate, than the "new" interfacial transition zone have different forms. It is shown that in mix designing of the new concrete, it is not possible to influence on the properties of the "old" interfacial transition zone, but it can be influenced on the properties of the "new" interfacial transition zone, in the sense that the existence of attached mortar, within the grain of recycled Concrete aggregate, could, in a certain measure, be his advantage or a significant disadvantage in comparison to the natural aggregate.
